Notice:

As of June 9, 2012 I will no longer be accepting e-books for review. This is due to the overwhelming
demand of reviews, work and night classes taking up a lot of my spare time. It
is taking me several months to read and post reviews therefore until “my to be
reviewed list” is smaller I will no longer accept any more e-books for review.
I am extremely sorry.

Review: Blood Promise - A Vampire Academy Novel by Richelle Mead

blood_promiseRose Hathaway's life will never be the same.
The recent attack on St. Vladimir's Academy devastated the entire Moroi world. Many are dead. And, for the few victims carried off by Strigoi, their fates are even worse. A rare tattoo now adorns Rose's neck, a mark that says she's killed far too many Strigoi to count. But only one victim matters . . . Dimitri Belikov. Rose must now choose one of two very different paths: honoring her life's vow to protect Lissa—her best friend and the last surviving Dragomir princess—or, dropping out of the Academy to strike out on her own and hunt down the man she loves. She'll have to go to the ends of the earth to find Dimitri and keep the promise he begged her to make. But the question is, when the time comes, will he want to be saved?
Now, with everything at stake—and worlds away from St. Vladimir's and her unguarded, vulnerable, and newly rebellious best friend—can Rose find the strength to destroy Dimitri? Or, will she sacrifice herself for a chance at eternal love?
– excerpt from Richelle’s website

What I really enjoyed about this novel was learning more about Dimitri’s past and present. We learn about Dimitri’s family who is very cool I would totally trade in my family to have his (sorry!). I also liked even though it did piss me off, Rose and Dimitri’s “new” relationship. We saw a different side of both of them.

But that doesn’t mean I’m still not pissed off about certain events! Richelle really knows how to play on her readers emotions. Which I find authors are rarely able to do. Which makes Richelle one of my favourites.

Oh and I was totally right about Avery – all I have you say about her is, trust what your gut is telling you about her because I bet you are right.

BTW still extremely pissed off...

Would I let my 15 year old sister read: This one I am okay with as there isn’t a lot of swears and the sex references are not as blunt as in some series.

  2. I enjoyed this book more the 2nd time around. The first time, I just wanted to know what was happening with Dimitri, but the 2nd time around, I could really appreciate the interaction Rose had during her travels!
