As of June 9, 2012 I will no longer be accepting e-books for review. This is due to the overwhelming
demand of reviews, work and night classes taking up a lot of my spare time. It
is taking me several months to read and post reviews therefore until “my to be
reviewed list” is smaller I will no longer accept any more e-books for review.
I am extremely sorry.

January Round Up

There is no Movie Monday this week because the DVD releases are of movies that are ones I have never heard of (most are “B” movies) and there is nothing coming to theaters worth mentioning. My guess is because Valentine’s Day is coming soon and they are making the good movies come out then.

So instead I’ma do a random post updating you wonderful followers on a few things.

There is a new poll to the right for you to pick what book I read in Feb. All books listed are by Indie authors. I think I may make Feb an read indie authors month for me. Feel free to join me on reading some Independent novels. If you need suggestions just ask.

I start online classes in International Business tomorrow Confused smile. Really don’t want to go back to school but I must. My 8 mth break was nice but I’m like 4 courses away from my degree so it is time to crack down.

We hit 200 FOLLOWERS!!!! Yay! I <3 YOU ALL! I will be having a giveaway…woot woot! I won’t post it until tomorrow. But if you have been following on Facebook or Twitter then you know you have your choice of picking the prize which is a choice between Last Sacrifice by Richelle Mead + a secret VA swag or a Hunger Games swag pack. If you leave a comment on FB or tweet me on Twitter I will count your vote. You can also leave a comment here to have your say.

With February approaching us that means I am only 2 mths away from TAX SEASON! Which is no fun for me cause that means 13+ hour days and 6-7days a week. Which equals Cassay no reading much Sad smile. I am looking for anyone who wants to do a guest post for the month of April. So my blog doesn’t look like a graveyard. If you are interested email me at vampsweresandcassay at yahoo dot ca.

I received some excellent news about a certain author that I love and I *may* get a Q&A with them! I’ll tell you more information once I know and if it gets the green light. Yes, I’m mean and totally just teased you all. MWAHAHA.

This month I’m participating in The Bleeders by Michaela Haze Blog Tour hosted by Dark Readers. I’m super excited to introduce you all to a new author.

I’m currently thinking about which author to choose for another weekly event. More than likely taking place this summer. If you have any ideas of what author you would like to learn more about. Let me know and I shall see what I can do!

Well I hope everyone has an great Monday.

Review: Sea by Heidi R Kling

Haunted by recurring nightmares since her mother's accidental disappearance over the Indian ocean three years before, fifteen year old California girl Sienna "Sea" Jones reluctantly travels with her father's volunteer team to six months post-tsunami Indonesia. During her stay at the orphanage, she meets scarred and soulful Deni who is more like Sea than anyone she has ever met.

She knows they can't be together, so why can't she stay away from him? And what about her old-best-friend-turned-suddenly-hot Spider who may or may not be waiting for her back home? And why is her psychiatrist father so secretive about her mother's plane crash? The farther she gets from home, the closer she comes to the truth. And Sea's real adventure begins. Excerpt from Heidi’s website.

Sea is such a heart wrecking beautiful story.

What I really enjoyed about this series was that the main character Sienna learned more about herself through helping those who were less off than her. Sienna meets several characters that help shape her along the way the most notable being Deni and Ellie.

Ellie is such a sweet little girl that I think you will ever read in a novel. Every time Ellie said “Hello” it made me laugh at her cuteness. Sienna takes on the role as a “big sister” to Ellie and Heidi makes their relationship feel so real and effortless.

Deni on the other hand shows Sienna that she needs to loosen up and open up to people instead of shutting everyone out like she had done to Spider – Sienna’s childhood friend. Deni’s background information is devastating – I bawled my eyes out. I couldn’t imagine going through what his family went through during the tsunami. I am so glad that he got a happy ending he totally deserved it.

Overall this was a great read, especially those who want to read something other than paranormal and are into novels with different cultures.

WOW: Demonglass

Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that I am eagerly anticipating.

This week is Demonglass by Rachel Hawkins. Book 2 in the Hex Hall series.

Sophie Mercer thought she was a witch.

That was the whole reason she was sent to Hex Hall, a reform school for delinquent Prodigium (aka witches, shapeshifters, and fairies). But that was before she discovered the family secret, and that her hot crush, Archer Cross, is an agent for The Eye, a group bent on wiping Prodigium off the face of the earth.

Turns out, Sophie’s a demon, one of only two in the world—the other being her father. What’s worse, she has powers that threaten the lives of everyone she loves. Which is precisely why Sophie decides she must go to London for the Removal, a dangerous procedure that will destroy her powers.

But once Sophie arrives she makes a shocking discovery. Her new friends? They’re demons too. Meaning someone is raising them in secret with creepy plans to use their powers, and probably not for good. Meanwhile, The Eye is set on hunting Sophie down, and they’re using Acher to do it. But it’s not like she has feelings for him anymore. Does she? Excerpt from Barnes & Noble.

Demonglass hits shelves March 1! Woot Woot I’m excited!

This Week I saw….

the-green-hornet-movie-poster-02-550x815The Green Hornet featuring Seth Rogen and Jay Chou. The movie wasn’t horrible like I thought it was going to be. It was pretty funny but the action scenes were very very cheesy. Overall, I give it a 3 out of 5.

Her search for answers uncovers just one message from her long dead mother: Run. Ari can sense that someone, or something, is getting closer than they should. But it’s impossible to protect herself when she doesn’t know what she’s running from or why she is being pursued.

She knows only one thing: she must return to her birthplace of New 2, the lush rebuilt city of New Orleans. Upon arriving, she discovers that New 2 is very…different. Here, Ari is seemingly normal. But every creature she encounters, no matter how deadly or horrifying, is afraid of her.

Ari won’t stop until she knows why. But some truths are too haunting, too terrifying, to ever be revealed.

Review: Fire Study by Maria V. Snyder

Yelena's new role as Soulfinder has made the Sitian Council uneasy. Worried that her new powers will corrupt her, the Council debates her fate. Yelena, though is trying to keep Sitia and Ixia from going to war. In the middle of political wrangling, Yelena receives a disturbing message: a plot is rising against her homeland, led by Ferde, the Soulstealer who murdered eleven girls and has escaped from prison with Cahil Ixia’s help. Cahil believes if he joins with the new Daviian Clan, he will have enough support to regain the Ixian throne. Testing the limit of her skills, Yelena becomes embroiled in the desperate fight to stop Ferde and the Daviian Clan from siphoning enough power to unleash a Fire Warper on the world. That would be worst than war between the northern and southern lands. Especially since, of all the powers Yelena possesses, she couldn't set fire to a candle wick if her life depended on it. And there is more at stake than just her life.
Excerpt from Maria’s

What an amazing book. I could not put this book down (just like the others)! I would have loved to have read it instead of doing boring accounting. As Yelena is dealing with her powers the Sitian Council is afraid of how powerful she actually is but Yelena also fears herself as well.

Yelena feels like she can’t trust anyone and she has a very good reason for it. The only person she can fully trust is Valek (mmm Valek). Yelena must learn to overcome her fear of her powers to save both Ixia and Sitia.

I don’t want to give too much away because it’s such a great story. But I will say that it’s full of action, keeps you guessing on who really is on Yelena’s side and who is betraying her. There hasn’t been anything that I have disliked about this series except for the fact that the novels come to an end and that is only because I want to keep reading about Yelena and Valek.

WOW: The Iron Queen

Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that I am eagerly anticipating.

In less than twenty-four hours I'll be seventeen.

Although, technically, I won't actually be turning seventeen. I've been in the Nevernever too long. When you're in Faery, you don't age. So while a year has passed in the real world, agewise I'm probably only a few days older than when I went in.

In real life, I've changed so much I don't even recognize myself.

I thought it was over. That my time with the fey, the impossible choices I had to make, the sacrifices of those I loved, was behind me. But a storm is approaching, an army of Iron fey that will drag me back, kicking and screaming. Drag me away from the banished prince who's sworn to stand by my side. Drag me into the core of conflict so powerful, I'm not sure anyone can survive it.

Excerpt from Julie’s website. The Iron Queen hits shelves Feb 1.

Alpha and Omega

The Social Network

Piranha 3D

This week in theatres:

The Green Hornet

The Dilemma

This week I watch Up In The Air. Featuring George Clooney and I didn’t care for this movie – I dont see how a movie about firing people can be entertainment. Yes, there was a bit of romance in it but that doesn’t make up for it.

The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin

“My name is not Mara Dyer, but my lawyer told me I had to choose something. A pseudonym. A nom de plume, for all of us studying for the SATs. I know that having a fake name is strange but trust me, it's the most normal thing about my life right now. Even telling you this much isn't good for my case.
But without my big mouth, no one would know that a seventeen-year-old who likes Death Cab for Cutie was responsible for the murders. No one would know that somewhere out there is a B student with a body count.
And it's important that you know, so you're not next.” Excerpt from Michelle’s website.

I can’t wait for Michelle’s debut novel. I “met” Michelle on twitter this summer and have been keeping myself updated with her work. Michelle and I partake in weekly hug fests on Saturday’s this is because I put her with some all-stars  for #FF (Her words not mine).

Passion by Lauren Kate

Before Luce and Daniel met at Sword & Cross and fought immortals at Shoreline, they lived many lives. . . . Excerpt from Goodreads

Review: My Soul To Steal by Rachel Vincent

Trying to work things out with Nash—her maybe boyfriend—is hard enough for Kaylee Cavanaugh. She can’t just pretend nothing happened. But “complicated” doesn’t even begin to describe their relationship when his ex-girlfriend transfers to their school, determined to take Nash back.
See, Sabine isn’t just an ordinary girl. She’s a mara, the living personification of a nightmare. She can read people’s fears—and craft them into nightmares while her victims sleep. Feeding from human fear is how she survives.
And Sabine isn’t above scaring Kaylee and the entire school to death to get whatever—and whoever—she wants.
I DON'T THINK SO. Excerpt from Rachel’s website.

Rachel sure knows how to play with my emotions. I was ready to cry and then the next moment I was ready to throw my cup of water at the wall. I really really really HATE Sabine. She is like my worst enemy but you know what I kinda like her for that.... It’s a hate-love thing. I know it sounds really weird how can you hate a character but like them as well? Well you see Rachel made her character so easy to hate and I love that! I love having strong emotions to a character to me it feels like the author put a lot of thought and effort into that character. And I totally have proof that Rachel loves Sabine. I posted of Twitter that I hated Sabine and Rachel commented back saying this:clip_image005

I liked MY SOUL TO STEAL the best so far out of the series for the fact that it made me feel so much and it was a great novel to come right before the epic finale. I have no idea where Rachel is going to go with it but I hope everyone gets who and what they deserve.

We learn a lot of background history about Nash which most of it made me feel a whole bunch of different feelings. I don’t want to say what exactly because I don’t want to spoil your emotions for you but I’m sure if you’re a Nash fan you’ll be upset just like me.

I think my biggest question I have going into IF I DIE is what is going to happening between Nash and Kaylee? I’m also curious if Tod has romantic feelings for Kaylee? Were they maybe meant to be together? Hmmm don’t ask me why I think Tod may have something for Kaylee – I may be making it up in my own head or maybe it was in a dream that I had...I tend to dream about book I’m reading. Also, I think Harmony and Kaylee’s dad should totally hook up they seem perfect for each other.

I suggest that you all go out and buy The Soul Screamer series if you haven’t already.

My reviews of the previous novels will be posted within the next few weeks. I just promised Rachel that I would post my review by January 4.

I would like to specially thank Rachel for having the Twitter Trivia Contest! I was soo excited that I got an answer right. Thank You Rachel!
