As of June 9, 2012 I will no longer be accepting e-books for review. This is due to the overwhelming
demand of reviews, work and night classes taking up a lot of my spare time. It
is taking me several months to read and post reviews therefore until “my to be
reviewed list” is smaller I will no longer accept any more e-books for review.
I am extremely sorry.

Suddenly Tabetha is thrown into a perilous adventure in the strange and wondrous world of Wrush...

New Series from Brenda Pandos!!!

So I have some very exciting new to share with you! And it is very ironic news. You see on Wednesday we went to Chapters (Cdn book retailer) and my sister asks me “Is there any mermaid books where the girl doesn’t know she's a mermaid and has to go on an epic journey?" Oh and a book about Fairies that isn’t this new age crap?” I say nothing about the last comment but it does cut me deep and the only series I can think of is Tera Lynn Childs Forgive My Fins series. But now I can tell here there is another one!!!! How cool is that? So I proudly introduce…

WOW: Clockwork Prince

Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that I am eagerly anticipating.

This weeks WOW is Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare! I personally can’t wait for this one because Cassie is a freaking WRITING GODDESS! And she totally puts me under a spell when I read her books I just can’t stop!

In the magical underworld of Victorian London, Tessa Gray has at last found safety with the Shadowhunters. But that safety proves fleeting when rogue forces in the Clave plot to see her protector, Charlotte, replaced as head of the Institute. If Charlotte loses her position, Tessa will be out on the street—and easy prey for the mysterious Magister, who wants to use Tessa’s powers for his own dark ends.
With the help of the handsome, self-destructive Will and the fiercely devoted Jem, Tessa discovers that the Magister’s war on the Shadowhunters is deeply personal. He blames them for a long-ago tragedy that shattered his life. To unravel the secrets of the past, the trio journeys from mist-shrouded Yorkshire to a manor house that holds untold horrors, from the slums of London to an enchanted ballroom where Tessa discovers that the truth of her parentage is more sinister than she had imagined. When they encounter a clockwork demon bearing a warning for Will, they realize that the Magister himself knows their every move—and that one of their own has betrayed them.
Tessa finds her heart drawn more and more to Jem, but her longing for Will, despite his dark moods, continues to unsettle her. But something is changing in Will—the wall he has built around himself is crumbling. Could finding the Magister free Will from his secrets and give Tessa the answers about who she is and what she was born to do?
As their dangerous search for the Magister and the truth leads the friends into peril, Tessa learns that when love and lies are mixed, they can corrupt even the purest heart. Excerpt from Cassie’s

Review: The Thirteenth Chime by Emma Michaels

No one knew of its existence until it was removed from the attic upstairs.

In a beautiful house that overlooks the sea, an antique clock has the power to change the course of their lives.

The power the clock resonates will not only force Destiny and ex-boyfriend David on a journey into the depths of one man's mind long dead, but into the mind of a man filled with hatred and bent on revenge.

With the only clues to the nature of the clock having disappeared into the sea, Destiny and David must retrace the steps the man had taken into the darkness, before they fall prey to the trap he had set in motion over half a century ago.

Hatred never dies

I read The Thirteenth Chime in one sitting, mostly because I knew that if I went to bed midway through the books that I would probably have creepy/nightmarish dreams about the book. The story itself was pretty creepy - the old lady and little girl totally creeped me out. The Thirteenth Chime would be a perfect episode for Supernatural. I did enjoy the book it kept my attention and I was totally thrown off on where the story was going which I enjoy. I don’t like being able to guess where a story is going, I like to be fooled and I was totally.

But I do think I know what is up with David. I liked the characters that Emma created but I do have to say what is up with Destiny totally turning down David like come on! But that is okay I guess because she left him for the rest of us J I had some beefs with Destiny but it’s mostly because I wanted to take her aside and slap her across the head to tell her that she was missing out on so much, but at last she’s a fictional character and I can’t slap her haha.

I can’t wait for book 2 in the series to come out August 2011.

Review: Released by Megan Duncan

After a demon apocalypse kills their parents and everyone they know, 17-year old Abby Phillips, her brother, Carter, and friend, Max flee their home to travel through what has become the wastelands of America. When radio transmissions of a resistance offering shelter and safety cease, Abby is tempted to give up. Struggling to overcome life-threatening obstacles in their dangerous journey, Abby and her companions quickly discover there are much worse things lurking in the dark than they could have ever imagined. Excerpt from Megan’s website.

Thank you Megan sending me a copy of your novel for review. I loved Released! I finished the book within 5-6 hours, the quickest I have ever a novel. Released kept me at the edge of my seat for the entire book. Released was also a quick read at only 260 pages of awesomeness.

The way that Megan described the scenery and the events the group had to get over while travelling reminded me of Zombieland which made it super easy for me to visualize post-apocalypse America. I loved the characters they were easy to relate to and funny. Taya is my favourite character in the series. She is funny and witty. There were many times were I was on the edge of my seat and Taya would say something and I would burst out laughing. She totally took the edge off some scenes. I also knew if I didn’t finish the book before I went to bed that I would totally be having nightmares of demon hounds and birds attacking me.

I can’t wait to read the Chaos the next book in the series and I sooo want more of this story.

Interview with Lisa Shearin

So remember back in March/April and I ask you if you had any questions for Lisa? Well she has answered our questions! I would like to thank Lisa soooo much for taking time out of her busy schedule to answer the questions.

Briefly describe the Raine Benares series.

My protagonist, Raine Benares, is an elf and a smagiclost_cover_fullsizeeeker, a finder of lost things and missing people. In terms of magical talent, Raine has enough that she’s good at her job, makes a decent living, and that’s perfectly fine with her. She’s happy. Raine’s problems start when through a series of misadventures she finds herself linked to a proverbial cursed stone of power that gives the one person it’s linked to the power to basically take over the world. You know, kill thousands, enslave millions, and literally move mountains—your standard god-like kind of stuff. And oh, by the way, the stone will drive you insane, a full-fledged cackling loony, and then you die, usually by throwing yourself off the mountain that you just carved in half. Needless to say, Raine’s new goal in life is to find a way to get rid of the rock. The new goal of every magical mobster and sicko sorcerer in Mermeia and beyond is to get hold of Raine.

What was your inspiration for Raines’ story?

Raine’s adventures came out of my love of genre fiction—fantasy, detective fiction, mysteries, action adventure, romantic comedy, thrillers, and crime capers. I wanted to combine fantasy with the intrigue of the classic detective novel, the suspense of a mystery, the daring of action adventure, and the fun of romantic comedy and crime capers. I wanted to write a roller coaster that you could read. I think it all goes back to my college days and not being able to find a book that combined all of my genre fiction loves. So I wrote the type of books I wanted to read, but couldn’t quite find. Well, that and Raine didn’t give me a choice.

How many books are planned for the Raine Benares series? con-conjure-layout-186x300

The Saghred storyline concludes with the next (and sixth) book in the series All Spell Breaks Loose. I have some really fun ideas beyond that, but I can’t talk about it. First I have to finish writing All Spell Breaks Loose, then write a proposal for my idea, and present it to my publisher. Once I’ve signed a contract, then I can talk about it.

Are you working on any other novels besides the Raine Benares series?

Not at the moment. I have a full-time job (editor and quality control manager at an advertising agency). Between that and writing Raine’s adventures, I’m working 10 to 11 hours a day, 7 days a week.

When you’re not writing, what do you like to do?

Sleep. Well, that and read. But mostly sleep. ; )

Will we be seeing more of Rache? I feel like he has more to be revealed.

Rache hasn’t told me when or where he’ll make his next appearance, but if he wants to be in another book, Rache is the type who will let me know.

felicia_dayIf Magic Lost, Trouble Found was made into a movie, who would be your “dream” cast?

Felicia Day as Raine.

gerard butler

Gerard Butler as Mychael.

Midwinter_webI’ve found some photos of guys who favor Tam, but unfortunately, I haven’t been able to find any names.

1299166354Josh_grobanJosh Groban as Piaras.

Nicol Williamson as Garadin. Helen Mirren as Tarsilia.

Cassay wants to add that she totally approves of Gerard Bulter being my Mychael and all of Lisa’a choices they are PERFECT!

PS You should all watch The Guild starring Felicia Day especially if you are familiar with World Of Warcraft it is a great show!

Quick questions: What are your favorite . . .

Books? The Dresden Files series by Jim Butcher149920_1436655128342_1591911476_30914212_1792002_n and The Myron Bolitar series by Harlan Coben

Authors? Jim Butcher, Harlan Coben, Rob Thurman, Robert B. Parker

TV Shows? Castle, Burn Notice, The Big Bang Theory, Firefly (cancelled, dang it!)watch-the-big-bang-theory-online1

Thanks again Lisa!
