Notice:

As of June 9, 2012 I will no longer be accepting e-books for review. This is due to the overwhelming
demand of reviews, work and night classes taking up a lot of my spare time. It
is taking me several months to read and post reviews therefore until “my to be
reviewed list” is smaller I will no longer accept any more e-books for review.
I am extremely sorry.

Of all the universe's forces, the most mysterious,
confounding, and humbling is the power of love.

Alma Katsu's acclaimed trilogy—a supernatural epic that began with The Taker and sparked a chase around the world in The Reckoning—comes to a stunning conclusion, and brings Lanore McIlvrae to a final encounter with Adair, her powerful nemesis. Dismayed by Adair's otherworldly powers and afraid of his passionate temper, Lanore has run from him across time, even imprisoning him behind a wall for two centuries to save Jonathan, her eternal love. But instead of punishing her for her betrayal, Adair declared his love for Lanore once more and set her free.

Now, Lanore has tracked Adair to his mystical island home to ask for one last favor. The Queen of the Underworld is keeping Jonathan as her consort, and Lanore wants Adair to send her to the hereafter so that she may beg for his release. Will she honor her promise to return to Adair? Or is her true intention to be reunited with Jonathan at any cost? Book cover and excerpt from Alma’s website.

The Decent is the final chapter to Lanny’s story. If you remember from my previous reviews you know that I went from hating Adair to falling in love with him to my dismay…well my love continued to grow as his character grew throughout the story. When I started The Decent I wasn’t sure where Alma was going to take the story so I totally had no idea of the direction was she was going to take and I totally loved the way that she took. My mom was right to say that the twist was a good one and that I wouldn’t see it coming. I’m sure if I was one of those people that pick up all the little details I might have been able to pick up on it but I’m not so I was pleasantly surprised. Lanny’s character didn’t grow much throughout the story more she just finally decided to make a decision or have an epiphany on which man she wanted in her life whether he be from her past, present and future she who she was actually in love with. Overall, I really enjoyed this series and was glad that I could share it with my mom and we could fan girl over our love-hate relationship with Adair. My mom totally stole my ARC when she came over to visit…I literally had it in my hands for maybe 15 min! It was seriously great to be able to share this moment with my mom.
